I would only like a very very gradual light tan, I don’t want it to look fake or orange.
The best thing to do is to go and have a spray tan done at one of those tanning places. It is even and doesn’t streak and you can go back and build it up if it’s too light for you. Ask them to start at the lightest one so you can see how it looks. Most of them have a little colour in them too so you can come out bronzed from your first go. You would then just have to use some proper sun cream when you went in the sun.
If you just want some lotion to use at home then on your body use Johnson’s Holiday skin for fair skin but make sure you wash your hands after and don’t put it on too thickly – you’ll need help with your back.
If you havent got anyone to help with your back then use a spray self tanner for fair skin – I think the one I used was L’Oreal and it worked well. I am very fair with freckles, blonde hair and blue eyes – Scottish so I basically have to take it very easy but these were fine for me. Lancome do a good face and body self tan lotion for fair skin but it can be quite pricey and no better than the others I’ve tried. The Oil of Olay facial tanner and moisturiser is very good and I have gone through a good many tubes of this. I think it has an SPF in it too.
I would avoid St Tropez as it’s too dark for very fair skin – I tried it and never again.
